Pok Pok

Raffia – a palm species, native to the land of Madagascar is at the heart of what Pok Pok does. Combining fashion with responsible consumption, Pok Pok uses this fibre that’s available in abundance to create bags that aim at highlighting the ancestral know-how of Madagascar. In 2012, Andrianina & Fitia came together, driven by their mutual desire for all things art to conceptualize a brand that pays tribute to the women who have shaped the red island and shine for their resilience and dignity. At Pok Pok, each piece combines tradition, which stands side by side with modernity to produce a product with the sheer attention to detail. The Mahalia bags, made by Pok Pok, are entirely handmade; they use raw materials, including raffia & dyes that are kind towards the environment giving you a product that not only looks good but also makes you feel good.

Quick Bites

Pok Pok looked around them, found Raffia – a sustainable vegetable fibre that was available in abundance, and decided to use it to create fashion. In a world of fast fashion, they respected the environment without compromising on aesthetics.

It takes around 4-15 days to manufacture one product depending on the complexity of the piece and at times, there are a total of 15 people involved in getting you the final product; each of them uses their skill and puts in immense love and that’s exactly what makes Pok Pok so special.
